Boreal Open 7 Days a Week
Back in October, Mammoth had it’s second earliest opening day ever. Then they had to shutter the joint due to warm weather. Now, they’re slated to reopen November 7.
But if you’re in dire need of snow, you can head up to Boreal in Tahoe. They’re now open 7 days a week.
Granted, only a single run is open and it’s doubtless covered in hard-packed snow-machine stuff, but of you’re jonesing for snow as bad as I am, that’ll do.

TRUCKEE, Calif.—A pair of days of ideal conditions for snowmaking in the Sierra and around Lake Tahoe last week has allowed Boreal Mountain Resort to open the slopes for skiing seven days a week.Resort spokesman Jon Slaughter says Boreal opened for good on Friday thanks in part to a new snowmaking system. Before then, it had been open only on weekends.
Slaughter says only one ski lift—the Castle Peak Quad—is open at this time.
He says the adjacent run has an average base of 24 inches but the snow is up to 8 feet deep in some areas. That run includes at least 20 terrain park features for snowboarders, including jump lines, boxes, rails and a staircase.
