Help Protect Malibu’s Surfrider Beach from Poop

3

Surfing Malibu _4_jpgFirst, yes we surf here at Sierra Journal. It might seem a bit odd to read about sea-level activities on SJ, but it’s not really. It’s all about playing with the earth’s forces, whether that’s gravity at altitude or or tidal energy at sea-level. Anyhoo…

For all you SoCal SJ readers, be sure to help out the Malibu Surfing Association in their efforts to clean up Malibu with a septic tank prohibition:

Surfrider Beach is an iconic beach, a crown jewel of surfing, and the birthplace of the California beach lifestyle. Unfortunately, Surfrider is also one of the state’s most polluted beaches, receiving poor water quality grades every year for nearly two decades. As of Labor Day 2009, Surfrider Beach has received “F” water quality grades 59% of the time.

The Cleanest Line (the venerable Patagonia blog) lists simple, specific tasks you can take to do just that.

TAKE ACTION: CLEAN WATER AT MALIBU
