International Day of Climate Action: Saturday, October 24
With more than 4,800 actions planned across 179 countries the International Day of Climate Change, scheduled tomorrow October 24, has the potential to become the largest public demonstration devoted to climate issues ever.
The events are being coordinated and publicized by 350.org, a group devoted to raising awareness of climate change. According to the interactive map available at 350.org’s website, California has over 250 events available for those interested in participating.
The group’s name comes from the scientific theory that states the upper limit of safe carbon dioxide levels within earth’s atmosphere is 350 parts per million. 350.org hopes to use this number to focus the aim of their global initiative.
